What does machine moving involve?
Machine moving is the process of safely disconnecting, lifting, relocating, and reinstalling industrial machinery — whether across a factory floor, between buildings on the same site, or to an entirely new facility across the country. It’s a specialist discipline that requires much more than a forklift and a truck.
A typical machine move involves assessing the machine’s weight and centre of gravity, planning the lift and travel path, disconnecting utilities (electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic), safely rigging and extracting the machine from its current position, transporting it, and reinstalling it to precise tolerances at the destination. Each step carries risk that only proper planning and experienced crews can mitigate.

How the machine moving process works
Every machine move follows the same structured approach regardless of size or complexity:
- Initial scope assessment. You tell us what needs to move, where it is, where it’s going, and when. We review machine specs, weights, and site layout. For larger jobs, we conduct a free site assessment (location dependent) to assess access, floor loading, clearances, and crane positions.
- Move plan and method statement. Should it be required we can prepare a detailed method statement covering rigging configuration, travel path, jacking and skating procedures, crane requirements, and safety controls. This is your compliance record under the OHS Act.
- Execution. We coordinate with certified crews who arrive and execute the move. Supervision throughout.
- Reinstatement and documentation. Machine is positioned, levelled, and handed over.
